Our Story

A Journey of Community, Partnership, and Transformation

Egoli Africa Uganda was founded in 2010 with a vision to create lasting change in rural communities through practical, sustainable, and locally driven solutions.

The organization began as a grassroots initiative led by local leaders in Kamuli District, responding to the everyday challenges faced by vulnerable children, youth, and women. From the beginning, the focus was simple but powerful: empower people with skills, opportunities, and support to improve their own lives.

Founding Partnership

Egoli Africa Uganda’s early development was strongly shaped through collaboration with Esther Haaisma, a Dutch development partner who lived and worked in Uganda for over a decade.

Her long-term commitment, hands-on involvement, and deep belief in community-driven development played a key role in laying the foundation and growth of the organization.

This partnership reflects Egoli Africa Uganda’s core values of collaboration, mutual respect, and sustainable impact.

From Small Beginnings to Community Impact

What started as a small effort to support a few individuals has grown into a recognized community-based organization serving communities across Kamuli District.

Over the years, Egoli Africa Uganda has expanded its programs to address critical needs, including:

• Vocational skills training for youth and women
• Access to clean water through water tanks and boreholes
• Maternal and child health support, including birth kits
• Education support and school development
• Livelihood programs such as agriculture, savings groups, and entrepreneurship

Through these initiatives, hundreds of young people have gained skills, started businesses, or secured employment, while families have improved their living conditions and resilience.

A Model Built on Collaboration

Egoli Africa Uganda believes that lasting development comes from strong partnerships. Over the years, the organization has worked with local communities, international partners, and development experts to strengthen its programs and expand its impact.

This collaborative approach ensures that solutions are not imposed, but built together with the communities they serve.

Today, Egoli Africa Uganda continues to grow as a center of opportunity and innovation.

With a strong foundation and expanding partnerships, the organization is committed to:
